Fuck being under EV. It makes me feel like shit, but, I've been working on my game this week and the results show. Well, atleast EV wise ;( .
I haven't had as much time to grind since i have a final this week i need to cram for. I'm 200VPP's away from Platinum and will be fucking ecstatic.

Overall on the month I'm down -274.03$ from cash games. I ran about 815$ below EV for a wopping 16 1/3rd 100bb buyins. Taste it Jake. At the tournaments I'm probably up around the 300$ ball park which gives this month a slightly winning or breakeven month. With Rakeback and bonuses. I must be up a couple hundred, but i had to withdraw some $$ so its negligable to my bankroll.

Shittiest month poker wise ever.

Fuck poker. For real. I've been trying to put in the grind everyday and trying to add more tables, and trying to build my bankroll up so I can move up and earn more that minimum wage like a bum. This downswing has been 30k hands of just sucking. I feel I'm playing fine. I feel comfortable while playing but I CANNOT keep playing like this. It's like I think I'm stacking a fish with my TPTK and all of sudden he shows his SlowPlayed AA. I've ran my AK into AA or QQ/KK into aces like probably 20 times in the last 2500 hands. It's like I'm getting premium hands more often then usual, but the moneys going in behind over and over and over again. This has been the worst I've ever ran period. I'm over 600$ under EV and I'm fed up with poker. I might take a week off once I get platinum star or something. To be put through this its the sickest thing in the world.

Downswing breakthrough/more downswing?!

I've been able to put in twice the amount of grind than the norm with my new sleep schedule. It's really great; Go to bed at 4AM wake up around 8-830AM, go to class/eat. Sleep at 11-12am till 330-4ish class then 3-4 hours of grind, repeat. I've been able to put in at least 2k hands a day and be wicked comfortable with it. Not only that but 8 tabling is really easy for me and adding tables over time really is easy. I have 2300 VPP's to go till platinum star and it seems so easily attainable when I'm earning around 500 VPP's a day. On top of that Im 13k FPP's away from 40k which has been my goal count for the month. Once I hit platinum star ill have the 62.5k FPP's for the 1k gift certificate in no time.

My Xbox recently has broken down, so I'm not too sure if I'm going to buy the gift certificate with my fpp's anymore. There's no sense in me buynig a TV I can't use for entertainment... Plus my BR could really use the booster.

I've logged in 22k hands this month (8k in the last 3 days). Last month I put up a miniscule 24k hands and around 600$ in profits w/ bonuses. I'm trying to hit around 40-50k hands by the end of the month and will surely do so.

Poker wise, I'm down. I've had a really significant heater yesterday, followed by 1/3rd to half of that lost in some crazy hands today. I ended up tilting against a crazy guy early in my sesion and lost around 1.5 buyins to him. I didn't end my session because of that, and ended up playing pretty solid for the majority of what was lost. A lot of my big pots where I assumably got it in good were split pots, and the fish kept out flopping me in big pots. However, besides the major downswing, my redline has remained breakeven over a large enough sample. Pretty happy since losing in non showdown pots is my biggest leak. Anyways:

Losing when "calling"?

I think I've found where I'm leaking alot of money. But once again I don't know how to fix it lol.

I guess a good example of a situation like this would be:

I have a 50bb stack of 25$ fish has say 18$

Against fishy player typical like 40/15 takes weird lines(cause thats what they do), check calls everything or donk bets out on alot of flops. Lets say he open limps on MP.

I Isolate on the button with say A9o everyone else folds.

Pots like 5$
Flop comes 1096 with a Flush draw ( i hold non of the suits.)

Villain donk bets. like half pot. 2$

Now, my standard line here is to bump it up to about 6$. He's range is alot of trash, weaker 9's flush draws, overcards and PP's/ any 10. I beat a ton of that range and he can/will call with worse more than with better. Atleast I think.

So, I bump it up to 6$ and he calls.

Pot: 11$ Effective stacks are around 10-12$ left.

Turn: 3 non flush card.

Villain donks again for like 3$.

Hero is clueless. Villain can be doing this with a Ton of b.s and I feel I'm ahead. But, villain is short and his stack size is like 8 left in a 15$ pot.

What do I do? I feel when I shove I'm overplaying my hand, and I keep seeing TP or better. I'm not comfortable with the range above now because.... I just don't know to be honest. Villain can have overpairs like JJ+ (most likely would have raised) he can have sets, Top pairs, 2 pairs and they all beat me. However I also feel villain can be doing this with all of his overcards trying to see a cheap river, same with his draws and lower pairs.

Given the range above, whats the right move here?

Sometimes I call, and on any river villain shoves and I feel obligated to call. I feel like I'm burning money when I turn passive in spots like these.

Another example would be against a reg.

Say 100bb deep (or even deeper)

Against a 24/19 style tagish reg who 3bets alot and is seemingly aggressive.

I raise on CO with AQo.
Villain calls on the Button everyone folds.

Flop is KQ8r

I bet, he calls

Turn is a 6 and now puts a flush draw out there.

Do i bet? I understand it depends on the player, but what if i have a read on them that he likes to float alot.

Sometimes I feel obligated to check/call to allow him to bluff at me. But, what do I do on the river and he shows aggression, and I have no reads on his river play?

In this situation, for practically any river card I don't know whats the right move. Even if an A hits. If i river 2 pair and I bet and he raises Im like WTF. Or even say i check call turn and check river (blank) to him and he leads for 2/3rds pot. I'm stuck, and melting the nickels instead of shipping them.

Just another one of those posts where I feel shitty about my game, you know standard.

Oh btw, the only regular I thought was better than me at my 50nl short tables, I owned today. LOL he's not as good as I thought.

This needs to change...

SO this month has SUCKED for me poker wise. I'm kind of pissed (like erik) so bear with me. So far this month I'm down around 600$. I should be up around 200$ (which is consistent with my last months winnings). I'm running close to 800$ under Ev. This sucks. I feel like im making most of the right decesions and not spewing. I'm NOT falling back into my 'old routine' of getting tilted when I run bad. This consists of making horrible call downs "just because fuck it" and I'm NOT starting to 4b bluff someone who might be 3betting me alot but I don't have a solid read on them. I've just been playing my game, folding to 3bets from guys who 3bet a little to much and just waiting for like JJ+ and owning them when they level themselves by calling w 10 10 to my UTG 4b shove. I'm not cbetting boards I shouldn't be, unless I have some sort of timing tell (like a note that says snap check-will fold) on the guy. I AM double barreling and tripple barreling Nits who have to fold/have shown they will fold their MP/PP against my tripple barrel on like a K63210 board. I AM going for thin value against fishy players who ch/call the flop/ turn and Check the river even if a draw gets their/overcard hits, because I'm pretty sure they will call still with MP. However, my QQ/JJ keeps losing to AK, My AK is losing to 99-QQ, My KK is running into AA more than i have ever seen before, and my AA is getting cracked by under pairs constantly. Another example of how I am not winning is this:

I raise pf on the BU with a TPGK type hand, flop TPGK, against a fish. I bet dry flop for value, turn completes Gutshot, but puts a Flush draw out there and I value bet, river is a blank and villain checks. Say I check, Villain shows the made Gutshot that hit on the turn. Deciding whether to bet or not on the river is pretty tough some of the time for me, especially if I'm unsure villain will call with MP or if he will bluff raise with a missed fd/straight draw.

But anyways, The hand i described above is an example of what is happening time and time again. I'm running into strong parts of villains ranges, and my value bets are either getting raised or snapped off by better hands.

I'll pot my graph to show you what I mean. But near the end of the graph, you can see where my EV starts dipping down -that's from examples like the one above and of course some mistakes aswell.

Although through all of this downswing, My redline has stayed pretty much break even, where as last month it was pretty much straight down. I feel it is due to my willingness to attack small pots when I should, and being able to commit to my double barrel or tripple barrel when I feel it will show a profit.

Lastly, My all time EV graph is just about even with my winnings. This is due to my attempt at 100nl in the summer. I ran about 5 buyins above EV at 100nl (which was nice), but now I'm really paying for it at 50nl I feel. I just wish it would even out as I win instead of losing about 25% of my bankroll in under 10k hands.

So that's it. That's what I've been going through and how stressfull poker has become. With my car accident and me getting a new phone/my own plan, I feel like poker is starting to feel like how it was last semester. Meaning this: Last semester and even during the summer I had no extra cash available to pay my bills/afford a 'quality life' ( i guess you would call it). All of my poker winnings went to pretty much living costs/books for college. Had I not ben in the car accident I would feel much less stress and feel a sense of freedom with poker. Now it's like I'm stuck for about 800$ and need to make up for it ASAP. It's stressfull and is going to affect my volume since I don't feel like playing in this state of mind. On top of all of this, I'm pretty far behind in school because of being sick/missing some classes. I got to get through this 'life' downswing and move on. How I'm going to do so is the hard part to figure out =/

Gettin the tables on

Ive been playing more consistently since this weekend. I've also been able to play 10-11 tables and been able to profit at that (and not mislick. I feel really comfortable playing 8 tables right now, and its kind of my median, when im feeling good i add another and another as i can. It feels great to grind for an hour and be able to but in 1k hands just like that. It's much better because it's like my true winrate is exposed over more hands..so like more hands I play the more often my EV runs out even. I hope that makes sense lol. If i make a mistake it still costs me, but I'm finding it less stressfull the more tables i play. Like if i was 4-6 tabling 1 little/big mistake would ruin the entire session. That still is true when playing more tables, but the more hands I play the more $ I'm winning. -This may sound like a level but I'm just trying to get at my point of my sessions are coming in more consistently than before. I hate thinking I'm ranting so if this doesnt make sense comment like a boss!

Totals since last post:

Hands played: 7852
Total profit: -125.39
Fpp's: 21k

Im running 250$ under EV which kind of sucks but I really do not care AT ALL about it lol. All I know is my Broll is more than sufficient for what I play at and I barely look at my cashier while I'm playing. I'm finding looking at my FPP balance is what's tilting me now ...haha

I played a 280fpp sat hyper turbo one to the 55k gaurantee, didn't realize it put me instantly into the tournament lol and i busted out for -11$. But it's w.e

I ventured about 50 hands into 100nl this week, and it was fun. It was like the same ole stuff, just a little harder to find some good tables, (ran -17$ but 17$+ ev wise =(

That gets me to my next point: tables selection.

I understand the only things we can control in cash games is table selection, how long you play, and when you play. Optimally you should be playing when your playing your best, playing however long you can play your best, and table selecting the very best tables. However, I'm not only trying to move up to 100nl, but I'm trying to beat the regs aswell. This coincides with multitabling. It's harder to find 11 good tables than it is 6 tables (even though you can still find 11 good tables.) But, the more I think about it, and the more i watch the regs play...the less concerned I am about playing at a table with an extra reg or 2. I've found that the half decent regs that I consistently play with don't bother playing back at me. (I've found this as I have around 500-1k hands on a lot of regs and nothing interesting really I've seen them play back at me). Now with this, I can see how getting better at playing against them and playing un exploited against them is insanely profitable. But i don't know where to start since i don't have CR... So if you have any suggestions on exploited regs let me know.

That's it, I'm coming home this weekend and will be hitting up everyone home, Steve you better coach me when I'm down haha
