crazy start to big grind day

So I'm going to be grinding alot today with the hopes of staying up all day to reset schedule, plus I'm way behind on my volume quota (1k games till end of break). Honestly I'd be satisfied if I can average around 40-60 games a day this month. As its been going I'm only getting it like 20-30 which is really low considering the time i have to grind. So ya gotta get up on that. I'm gunna start making a Cliff-notes before my post so it's easier to read, since I rant so much. But I really like it when others read this and give feed back. :)

10. Hand of the day!!!!

1. TRON!
5. COOLERS!!!!
6. LOL Daniel Negreanu live-aments
7. Misclick's
8. Results

1. Today i started out the grind after watching TRON in the movies, (great movie btw action packed, with great visuals and a sub par plot line).

I was getting in about 10-12 games at a time, which I feel really comfortable with since most of my decisions are completely standard/basic (pre-flop and flop play is pretty much like 90% of where my focus goes). Things went bad after about 20 minnutes in.

2. Besides that I ran into a bunch of pretty tough pre-flop, calling of shoves- decesions. I tend to fold like 90% of the time if it's close or if i even am having a tough time with calling/folding. I think this is because, if I'm having a tough time deciding what to do pre-flop at this limit, at this stage in my poker-escapade, then it must be a spot where my edge is small. Because of that reasoning I fold because there will be a TON more-more profitable situations. IE: I'm in the SB with AJo and a tighter, 8bb stack shoves all in 6 handed. (still 2 tables left) -I'm basically up against Middling to top Aces and like 66+ (after stoving that range i'm actually a 10% dog which i had never realized before). Being a 10% dog in a SNG this early MUST be a hugeee -EV mistake. Even getting it in as a slight favorite like 4% edge is a pretty clear mistake in these games. My mind is blown after typing that out cause I understand more fully why.

3. BTW: The other night when I hung out with Steve was fun, and I'm always inspired to learn more about poker after discussing stuff. I hope to hang out with him more before school starts, even though the SNE grind starts for him I hope he can get some time to chill. :P

4. I'm really interested in the dynamic in SNG's relative to poker. It seems easy, and is very-easy to learn. I'm much better than every reg that plays these, and have a HUGE edge over all the fish that enter in. That said though, I need to work on getting my ROI as high as possible (hopefully like 35-40% sustainable). Right now I', on a little heater for the month at 50%. After looking at my ROI over all my games on HEM, my ROI is constantly improving since the start. It kind-a just goes to show that my decesion making process has in-fact improved over the year.

5. Anyways, There were a bunch of coolers like AA cracked allin pre or w.e and I did get 1 outtered in a 3 way allin pot early which would give me enough chips to wait for the money. I was down about 60$ at one point (20 buy ins at the 3's, but had some 5's mixed in). I expect that pretty regularly, and its not even close to what a real downswing in SNG's is like (50-100 BI). But my mind and game kept wandering in and out of focus.

6. I was watching the "Million Dollar Challenge" with a bunch of donks and Daniel Negreanu fishing it up in one of those shitty-announcered live-aments. Really tilting watching these especially considering one of the worst players hinted at himself being a professional for free-rolling a crap shoot lol.

7. My game really sucked and I wasn't able to make some really basic decisions preflop (like when to limp and what-not). And I hadn't came close to ITM in any of them (and that's where the majority of my edge is in). I blame myself!

I misclicked 3xs today, 1 of which cost me an entire stack. That's the first time that has happened all of break which distracted me so much =/

I should really elaborate on a bunch of these topics more, I feel like I'm just throwing things out there but I go over it in my head a lot.

8. As for results, I'm kinda behind as far as tracking the progress of my profit/loss. I think it's because of that huge downswing I went through in November and I'm kinda afraid to look at the cash game results. But for this month so far in december I'm up around 500$ from the SNG's and various tourney play which is nice. I won't be adding in profit updates unless I change my mind.

9. Lastly, I 4 tabled 4, 4-man HU Sng's at the 2-6$ level just for fun today. I played about 25 of my sngs earlier in the day and just got bored to i loaded em up. For once I actually was entertained by poker and didn't feel like it was just all profitable decesions (even though I WAS still making +EV decesions) it was fun, and I felt what I feel like most gambler's feel when they just want to have some fun. So, If your bored and want to take a break I suggest attempting 4 tabling 2$ (or w.e buy in) HU sngs. (it's hilarious sweating the all-ins and I'm serious haha.)

Guy who initially raised pre shoved for like 7 bb's early on. I decided to min-reraise pre flop because i didnt want to play for stacks with one of the deeper guys to my left, and I wanted it to look strong enough for others to not come in the pot with hands like KQ or AQ. I expect all the other regs to fold to this and the fish will still think its cheap enough to call with underpairs and shit like that. Not neccessarily the most in-depth thought process but I felt it was okay to min raise/fold to a deep stack or tighter player. I literally saw i got it in with nuts joked and said "ha he's drawing to a 1 outer LOL" and looked back 5 minutes later to see half my stack gone =/ it was a 5$ too >:(

Gunna be a long week

Got back from turning stone late last night. Went well and I think I made about 700 from earnings, but after expense Im only walking away with about 5'something. This week's gunna be a long one with school so I'm not gunna update/play for a while. After this week I have finals next week, but I usually have some extra time during finals week because of no classes, I might play then. I'll update all my totals from last time i posted after finals week. Till then...so long folks.

New blog, new way of going about things.

I put up a new blog. This new blog will be a very strictly -business like blog. I don't want to fuck around with poker anymore, and i'm not gunna put up any shitty posts about how poker sucks or anything like that in this new blog. It's going to be strictly stats of w.e i put up, and business-plan type blog. its gunna have my thoughts on situations i need to improve on and shit like that. Buttt this blog will still exist for me to fuck around on and put up totals and stuff like that. Yeah, word.

Poker Talk; about exploiting regs I guess

I watched a 2 part series from a 1-2, 2-4 reg on deuces cracked today. The valuable content of the videos was, "taking non-standard lines to extract, and thinly overbetting for value with a polarised range." I really liked these two videos as the instructor went into depth about extracting value against regulars who you know, or assume will expect you to do something in a standard spot. (though i think the instructor was swedish and his accent made the word "here," sound like "Heyah." very annoying)

For instance, You raise KK in MP or earlier and the button/CO just calls (he 3bets QQ+ And AK), everyone else folds. Lets say button is a good reg who expects you to ch/fold w air hands a lot on boards like 334ss or 678 type boards. And will bet assuming to take down the pot a good majority of the time.

The flop comes 344 with a heart fd, you hold the KK with a heart. You check the flop and he bets.

Now, the button will think (we have reads on him, or assume he expects this), you would probably just bet a FD+overcards, your overpairs, and any type of straight draw you could have. So he bets, and you go for a C/R.

If villain thinks you would bet all your made hands, and big draws (maybe you could c/r with a big draw), then i think he's not likely to believe you have a strong holding and this will leave room for him to make a mistake.

If he has a hand like the backdoor NFD, or AQ/AK, or 56, 78 1 heart, or even made hands like 55+ he might feel his hand is best and shove or make a small raise. He might say ehh its a cooler if he shows me the nuts. and justify his play. If he has like 55+ he might just call, evaluate -call/fold turn/river.

Now the whole point of making this play is because:
1. It's unlikely you will get 2 or more streets of value against a thinking reg with your holding, on this board, (and still be good).
2. Villain can think that your line is Full of shit and make a play back.
3. It forces the reg to not put you in a shitty spot out of position. (if you took a bet bet bet line, he could bluff raise turns/rivers in position and force you to bluff catch un-improved out of position-which is shitty.)
4. Villain might not steal away the pot as much when you are checking the flop to check fold next time (allowing you to improve on turns/rivers.)
5. Villain thinks you will bet/play more aggressively out of position with all your strong hands like 1010+ or big draws.

That said, reasons to NOT make this play are:
1. Villain will call down 3 streets with a lower underpair
2. Villain is NOT capable of raising turns or rivers with semi bluffs- draws/missed draws (causing you to bluff catch or ship it uncomfortbaly against his range.) I.E.Villain plays his draws passively.
3. Villain will check back this board with a high frequency and try to get to show down with a small overpair -in which case betting is better.
4. Villain is a passive fish, or a fish uncapable of making a play here.

Just some thoughts im throwing out there. There was alot of situations where the instructor was against a reg, which the reg would assume Hero to bet or check with a high frequency. Also, the instructor was in situations where the reg would always be stabbing at a pot with a high frequency in which the reg would assume to take down the pot a ton.

So when your in a situation with a big hand where if you check villain will bet a high frequency, it's great to check/raise in order to get that extra bet from villain and induce. (unless villain will call call call anyways, or will be afraid of your c/r -which seems unlikely against good regs).

I feel like im repeating what I'm saying so imma stop and post it.

Let me know what ya think, PEACE.

Big tourney day

Played a buncha tourneys today. pretty good day wen to my first final table in a scheduled tournament >300peeps. and won a 180 man. Also, switched sites to GR88 Poker to grind out a much need 720$ bonus+35% rakeback +other promotions. My cash game play has sucked on stars, idk if its running abs horrible, or just im not a winner. I'll figure it out, I'm grinding 25nl 100bb poker on gr88 until i get some more $$$ on there, or my game gets better.

Totals since last post:

Cash hands played: 8974
Profit: -331.48$

Tournaments played:60
Profit: +434.38$

Rakeback: +7.74$

Total profit since last post: +110.64$

Feels so incredibly good to be up since my last post, it really hit home when i hit that last downswing. After a month of just horrible run bad/break even play at the end (and a -400$ on the month), I was hoping for a good month in nov. This did not come true as there was a blaring hole in my bank roll.

Anyways with rakeback alone thats about 5+$ an hour depending on how many tables and will help lower the swingy-ness. (+bonuses i cant fail! right?)

Thats it enjoy folks!

SN 200k for 2011: The Numbers, the Moe-nays, and the Grind

I've thought about what to do in 2011, 200k Supernova is calling my name. First of all to get my peace of mind together, I'd like to state this:

If I do not play poker in 2011, and work part-time during school/full time during summer, I would only be making about 5-7k a year. My average salary for a summer at Dunks (where i would most-likely work at) would be about 3500$ and part time throughout college I figure around 1500-3k$ would be average. (after taxes)

So I can make around 5-7k$ a year if I quit poker and went back to my old job.

Anyways back to my SN chase.

Here's the numbers:

200,000 VPP's
365 days= 548 VPP/day

At 50nl Short tables- getting .24 vpp/hand (that's what I have at over 70k hand sample)

= 2283 hands/day

At 50nl Short tables- at .38 vpp/hand (that's a rough estimate and I think steve mentioned it was some where around there)

=1442 hands/day

Realistically I can only comfortably play 8-10 tables so far, I'm going to settle with these numbers for now.

8 tabling at 90 hands/hour: 720 hands/hour
50nl: 3.2 hours/day

10 tabling -90h/hr : 900 hands/hour
50nl: 2.53 hours/day

Now, since I am struggling to move up, have not much experience at 100nl, and am a little short on my bankroll for 100nl, I don't think I will be playing as many tables as 50nl. So here's the numbers for my estimate:

5 tabling at 90h/hr: 450 h/hr
100nl= 3.2 hours

7 tabling: 630 h/hr
100nl= 2.3 hours.

The Moe-nay's:

200k SN has a lot of worthy bonuses for grinders at my stage in my poker career.

Firstly, I've set a goal to reach 100k SN by the 6 month mid point of the goal. If I can achieve this then I can receive the full benefits of 200k SN.

I'f I start in January at Platinum star (Grind it out in December), and achieve 100k VPP's after 6 months, I will have 250k FPP's.

Once at Supernova and shooting for 200k VPP's, I'll be getting 3.5 FPP's per VPP.
If I make the last 100k VPP's in the last 6months I will have a total of 600k FPP's.

(the faster I get supernova the more FPP's I will get)

Bonuses:

1000$ stellar rewards (need 90k VPP's to get all of it)
4000$ 250,000 FPP reward
4000$ 250,000 FPP reward
1000$ 50,000 FPP 100k VPP milestone
3400$ 50,000 FPP 200k VPP milestone
____________
Total: $13,400 profit from bonuses at 200k SN.

Even if I play break-even at any of the stakes I play and achieve this, it's almost twice the amount I would make at my typical job.

The numbers for grinding seem very small, however given I've known myself to procrastinate, it's going to be tough.

This is the most realistic reach goal I can set for myself for 2011 and if I do conquer it, I'll set myself up for a great run at SNE in 2012 (the end of ze world.)

My absolute minimum for 2011 is to achieve Supernova 100k. If I don't achieve this, I probably quit poker or am in the ground dead..haha

The cool thing about this whole challenge is the fact that even if I only hit 100k VPP's, I'll still be making my average salary of around 5k a year. Plus, I'll have a much higher FPP/VPP ratio and much better rakeback.

In order to start this challenge and get rolling, I'm going to need a bigger bankroll. In order to play 100nl consistently I want to have at least 3k in my cashier. Until then its going to be about 20% 100nl 80% 50nl/ w.e I decide to play. Once I get a 3k bankroll I do not mind switching roles (no pun intended ;) and making it 80% 100nl / 20% w.e I think this is a really good idea for my peace of mind and situation.

The only hard part about this challenge (besides putting in the grind) will be the distances between each bonus. I'm going to need money and that's a fact. So I'm planning on taking out money each month. I think taking out money once or twice a month is the best way to keep my Bank roll healthy, and still have cash for things. If I have a big $$ month I will try to not take out more than I usually need to suffice for a downswing.

As far as the bonuses go, I'm trying to get my BR to at least 10k by the end of the year any excess funds with that I don't mind taking out and investing/buying big things that I need with. Such as a car =)

Lastly, I would like to rant on about Card runners. I'm going to need a card runners membership. I don't know how I'm going to get it, but I need it. I feel like in order for me to comfortably play 100nl I'm going to need 2-3k in my cashier at all times on stars. This is conflicting because the only realistic way of getting CR is shifting to full tilt and grinding it out. I might ask for a stake, or I might just shift 1k to full tilt and get CR before the new year. This is conflicting however, because I need to achieve Platinum star during December in order to gain full benefits of my FPP's in 2011. Idk just some thoughts. A stake isn't really an option TBH, because it's going to cost me money and the whole point of getting CR is it's free...

Well that's it, really long post, but i feel really good about laying it all out there. Enjoy.

Totally poker weekend

I'm not happy with how I played last night, I didn't make some really super-easy folds and it cost me 100bb's more than once. But, I feel good today and will be ready to grind out a long session after I eat.

I'm going to break my grind up into shorter sessions. Probably play 1k hands at first, 4-8 tabling, then evaluate my state of mind. If I feel I'm getting lazy/tired, I'll take a break. Then start up again for a quick 500 hand session and evaluate. Repeat.

If after those 1k hands I'm feeling great, I'm going to add another table or two and evaluate every 500 hands.

Totals since last post:

Hands: 5513

Profit: +90.42$

Tourneys/Sngs: 79

Profit:-52.68$

Bonuses: +300$ 25kFPP bonus. +11$ 280 fpp sat

Total profit since last post: +348.74$

I chose to purchase the 300$ bonus for a number of reasons. Basically the value of having a mental security of my bankroll was worth the loss of .001$ per fpp.

Anyways, in tournaments, I played about 12 or so games HU at the 10$ level. This probably skewed my tourney results as I went semi deep in a 5$ rebuy. But, I was playing an enormous fish. He played 90% of hands from both positions and always limped. He raised his top like 5% of hands.

So easily exploitable its not even funny. He also never folded to cbets (around 20-30%). To exploit him I just cbet really really dry boards, but the majority of my Cbets where for value. I have to think though, is it profitable to raise 40% of hands against guys like these on the button IP? I think I would rather limp like the bottom half of my range just trying to hit, and raise the top half of my range.

Well to cut it short, he got 8 buy-ins off of me in 8 games... 7 of which were coolers, like not "i hit the top of his range" but "damn my AA got cracked all-in preflop." LOL and 1 buyin was a so-so decision. I'd like to learn if what I stated above is the best strategy, about limping on the button against these guys. Thanks.

Pce.

Sunday and 50nl graph for NOV.

Heres my graph of 50nl so far this month so you can see how I've started focusing and playing better/run good. not trying to brag or nothing, it just will motivate me k thanks.

So far since last post haven't played much, but I've been playing a bunch of tourneys this sunday and not doing so well

Tournaments played: 23 (2 still going on)
Profit: -43.67$ (still have 2 left)

I played about 12 of those hyper turbo FPP buyins and lost/got my money back in all but 1 (those things are crazy I've come to realize)

Cash:

Hands: 1051

Profit: +34.30$ ( about 120 under EV lol)

Heres the graph!

Saturday, November 6, 2010

Man i gotta start posting more of these FML posts...

I guess my doomswitch switched off since my last post... I'm starting to play better, run better, and got an 80 on an exam that decided my fate in my college career... BOSS.

I didn't post my results when I blew some money at the 25nl deep tables so it kind of skews my results for recently.

Totals since last total's post:

Hands played: 7408

Total Profit: +21.54$

Tournaments played: 53

Profit: +200.94$

Total profit since last: +222.48$

I've really lowered the tables while playing recently in order to get outta this rut and still be "sane." It really helped. After the chip dumping session at 25nl deep, I ended up playing some of my best play at the 50nl short tables. I ran close to EV and my redline is definitely breakeven/slightly positive. Lowering the tables has helped my game tremendously. I think I need a larger sample while playing 4-7 tables in order to: 1. figure out the right play in situations I have no clue of what to do, 2. Get a higher BB/100 to lower this variance, 3. Manage my tilt issues.

Not only that, but by lowering the tables to say 4-6, I'm able to put up 8-12 3$ 18/27man SNGS in one tile. This tremendously helps my $/HR as the 3's are my bread and butter of the MTT world (besides the 180's). ALSO, by adding those in, I'm forcing myself to put in the hours at the cash games. This sometimes is a bad thing, but for my situation right now it is perfect.

Lastly, letting poker affect my life/state of mind is not how I should live. If I let it affect my life/grades/whatever then it's just not for me. And since I want poker to be a supplementary or even primary income, I have to work on not allowing it affect me. It kinda sucks not having CR right now, because i'd like to watch those jared tindler vids about "mentality" and my A-game. Meh, maybe I'll head to SW and watch some vids w colt (no homo.)

Lol just realized my redline over the last 10k hands is positive by a substantial amount, this usually happens when I go into tilt and try to take down every pot LOL. At 50nl it's nice and breakeven recently so w.e.

And my very last statement; the cash games are so SOFT on the weekends, it's ridiculous. I could probably pull 5BB/100 easily for a weekend grind.

I'm stuck. I'm in a life-rut. (it's a rant so STFU)

I'm only putting this up because I'm too stressed out to write in a journal. I've been "stuck," meaning not being able to move forward/ progress in anything, for over a month now. If anything I've moved or am moving backwards in I guess i'll call it "progress." I've had bronchitis for over a month and my medicine for it is almost up and no changes/minimal. My results with school are: I had a test in Stats, in which 30% of my grade is weighted to, since I opted out of the HW online. The test didnt go so well, on average i probably received a D-C range. In my botany class, because I have refused to go to class at 9AM every morning and just read the lectures online, I've fallen 6 classes behind. Not only that but I feel I'm missing a ton of content in the actual class. In my consumer economics class I've chosen to give up 5% of my grade because I don't want to write 6 summaries on bullshit current events each week. I got a 76 on the only test we had so far which seemed incredibly easy, and every lecture is the most boring/waste of my life i have ever experienced. I feel i know everything in this class yet Have to go because attendance is mandatory. In my Price theory class, I'm doing OK, recently I've fallen behind and have missed a couple classes but I've gotten a B on the test and have gone to most of the classes. Overall school wise, it just seems like my definition of waste of time. I don't want to be here but am forced to because of financial aid, parents, GF and to get a degree. I personally would like to move back home and focus on other more important things in my life, but I can't. This feeling of trap-ness is DE-motivating me to do anything and making me slightly depressed/in a wrong state of mind. Money wise, I'm not doing that bad, if I need money I have my bank roll there to suffice, and I don't really have bills besides phone. Poker wise: It's a shit show. I'm stuck and don't know where to go. I moved down to the short tables at 25nl, yet I feel like I'll grind for hours for like 5$ an hour. Which is just short of making me insane. I feel like I can't fucking win at anything poker wise except for tournaments. Yet I don;t have time for tournaments with my classes/GF time. That's another thing. If I'm not sleeping or eating or going to class it's assumed that I should hang out with my GF. That cuts SO MUCH time/effort away from school/poker. I can't stand it, especially on the weekends where I want to put in the most hours in for poker. Don't get me wrong my GF is amazing and I'd never want to break it off for something like this, but I feel like she'd be pissed off if I didn't hang out with her because I'm playing/doing something poker related. As a result I've been "running through the cracks" putting in sessions when she's not around. She's going home this weekend which will give me a lot of time for poker but I don't want to keep doing it like this. Another thing is my Car and Xbox broke down (as i've already said). This just adds so much stress. I can't just "go for a drive" when I'm stressed out, or I can't just play halo for entertainment when I want to. And it's just like more things that I have to get/pay for. My last rant is my health. Because I've been sick for so long, I haven't been in the Gym for about a month. This is a HUGE no-no for me. The gym allows me to steam off so much stress and gives me a sense of control. Everything I've worked on in the summer is pretty much for-not now as I've gained weight/lost muscle. Also, I feel like an ass clown when I'm in between classes and have a lot of free time. I tend to just sit around and do nothing/read 2+2 bull shit for hours. See I'd like to actually do something but my mind traces off into "lala land" and I end up playing my roomates Xbox or surfing the web and legit wasting my life. I talked to my doctor and he seriously advised me to look into ADD medicine. I have an appointment scheduled on the 10th which hopefully I can get this figured out. I don't mind taking Med's for something like this, It's something I have always struggled with and as long as I am able to maintain a healthy life style I don't care. I Can't stand all this shit and need some sleep. Pce.

Deep tables..

So far I've been playing a lot of the deep tables at 25nl. They are wicked soft, and the so called "regs" like to c/r bluff the river all in when I have the nuts. However, I've lots a BUNCH of all ins when i was about 2-4 buy ins deep which is insane. Here's an example of what I mean.

I raise PF in MP w/ AA to 4xbb. SB 3bets to like 16bb, and I 4bet to 48bb's and he calls. We were about 250bb deep or so.

This player was sort of nitty, and I had a 3b of like 5% over 100 hands or so. I felt he was only 3betting premiums and maybe some high broadway hands. I put his PF range that would call a 4bet as 1010-KK AK, AKs.

The flop comes KsK5s. 100bb pot

I bet 40bb on the flop, setting up a turn shove. 10$ into 25$. He calls.

Turn is a Jh We both have 1 Pot sized bet left effective.

I shove and he has AKs.

Did I play the hand wrong? I felt at the time that he had the nuts, but while looking at his range and card removal, my decision changed. AK is extremely unlikely to have given that I have the 2 Aces and that 2 of the Kings are on the board. There are only 1 combination of AKs left and NO combinations of AKo left.
So he's repping Specefically ONE hand(unless KQs is in his range, but there isn't many KQ hands left either.) (or quads actually, but that's ridiculously unlikely). I don't think he calls a 4bet of 1/5th his stack with 55 to set mine. JJ is legitimate on the turn, but if JJ is legitimate than 1010/QQ is also legitimately in his hand range.

Against a Range of 1010-KK + AKs, I have 73% equity in the hand. Against JJ-KK + AKs I have 67% equity. I like my play, and I think that this is probably one of the worst beats in a while imo. idk tell me what you think.

I'd like to give thanks to my friends, family and everyone who helped me get here....

I hit platinum star today, and I'm honored to be a platinum member. I'd like to give thanks to my all you who supported me threw my days. I finally made it baby!. Now I get 2.5FPP per VPP baby. Time to get the most Fpp's ever acquired. I'm fucking ecstatic. In the words of the infamous, "I need a cocktail baby,"

Haha, jk that was all a joke but i thought it was funny. So i got platinum at the cost of a runbad/bad play session. But that's okay. ttyl PEACE

Fuck being under EV. It makes me feel like shit, but, I've been working on my game this week and the results show. Well, atleast EV wise ;( .
I haven't had as much time to grind since i have a final this week i need to cram for. I'm 200VPP's away from Platinum and will be fucking ecstatic.

Overall on the month I'm down -274.03$ from cash games. I ran about 815$ below EV for a wopping 16 1/3rd 100bb buyins. Taste it Jake. At the tournaments I'm probably up around the 300$ ball park which gives this month a slightly winning or breakeven month. With Rakeback and bonuses. I must be up a couple hundred, but i had to withdraw some $$ so its negligable to my bankroll.

Shittiest month poker wise ever.

Fuck poker. For real. I've been trying to put in the grind everyday and trying to add more tables, and trying to build my bankroll up so I can move up and earn more that minimum wage like a bum. This downswing has been 30k hands of just sucking. I feel I'm playing fine. I feel comfortable while playing but I CANNOT keep playing like this. It's like I think I'm stacking a fish with my TPTK and all of sudden he shows his SlowPlayed AA. I've ran my AK into AA or QQ/KK into aces like probably 20 times in the last 2500 hands. It's like I'm getting premium hands more often then usual, but the moneys going in behind over and over and over again. This has been the worst I've ever ran period. I'm over 600$ under EV and I'm fed up with poker. I might take a week off once I get platinum star or something. To be put through this its the sickest thing in the world.

Downswing breakthrough/more downswing?!

I've been able to put in twice the amount of grind than the norm with my new sleep schedule. It's really great; Go to bed at 4AM wake up around 8-830AM, go to class/eat. Sleep at 11-12am till 330-4ish class then 3-4 hours of grind, repeat. I've been able to put in at least 2k hands a day and be wicked comfortable with it. Not only that but 8 tabling is really easy for me and adding tables over time really is easy. I have 2300 VPP's to go till platinum star and it seems so easily attainable when I'm earning around 500 VPP's a day. On top of that Im 13k FPP's away from 40k which has been my goal count for the month. Once I hit platinum star ill have the 62.5k FPP's for the 1k gift certificate in no time.

My Xbox recently has broken down, so I'm not too sure if I'm going to buy the gift certificate with my fpp's anymore. There's no sense in me buynig a TV I can't use for entertainment... Plus my BR could really use the booster.

I've logged in 22k hands this month (8k in the last 3 days). Last month I put up a miniscule 24k hands and around 600$ in profits w/ bonuses. I'm trying to hit around 40-50k hands by the end of the month and will surely do so.

Poker wise, I'm down. I've had a really significant heater yesterday, followed by 1/3rd to half of that lost in some crazy hands today. I ended up tilting against a crazy guy early in my sesion and lost around 1.5 buyins to him. I didn't end my session because of that, and ended up playing pretty solid for the majority of what was lost. A lot of my big pots where I assumably got it in good were split pots, and the fish kept out flopping me in big pots. However, besides the major downswing, my redline has remained breakeven over a large enough sample. Pretty happy since losing in non showdown pots is my biggest leak. Anyways:

Losing when "calling"?

I think I've found where I'm leaking alot of money. But once again I don't know how to fix it lol.

I guess a good example of a situation like this would be:

I have a 50bb stack of 25$ fish has say 18$

Against fishy player typical like 40/15 takes weird lines(cause thats what they do), check calls everything or donk bets out on alot of flops. Lets say he open limps on MP.

I Isolate on the button with say A9o everyone else folds.

Pots like 5$
Flop comes 1096 with a Flush draw ( i hold non of the suits.)

Villain donk bets. like half pot. 2$

Now, my standard line here is to bump it up to about 6$. He's range is alot of trash, weaker 9's flush draws, overcards and PP's/ any 10. I beat a ton of that range and he can/will call with worse more than with better. Atleast I think.

So, I bump it up to 6$ and he calls.

Pot: 11$ Effective stacks are around 10-12$ left.

Turn: 3 non flush card.

Villain donks again for like 3$.

Hero is clueless. Villain can be doing this with a Ton of b.s and I feel I'm ahead. But, villain is short and his stack size is like 8 left in a 15$ pot.

What do I do? I feel when I shove I'm overplaying my hand, and I keep seeing TP or better. I'm not comfortable with the range above now because.... I just don't know to be honest. Villain can have overpairs like JJ+ (most likely would have raised) he can have sets, Top pairs, 2 pairs and they all beat me. However I also feel villain can be doing this with all of his overcards trying to see a cheap river, same with his draws and lower pairs.

Given the range above, whats the right move here?

Sometimes I call, and on any river villain shoves and I feel obligated to call. I feel like I'm burning money when I turn passive in spots like these.

Another example would be against a reg.

Say 100bb deep (or even deeper)

Against a 24/19 style tagish reg who 3bets alot and is seemingly aggressive.

I raise on CO with AQo.
Villain calls on the Button everyone folds.

Flop is KQ8r

I bet, he calls

Turn is a 6 and now puts a flush draw out there.

Do i bet? I understand it depends on the player, but what if i have a read on them that he likes to float alot.

Sometimes I feel obligated to check/call to allow him to bluff at me. But, what do I do on the river and he shows aggression, and I have no reads on his river play?

In this situation, for practically any river card I don't know whats the right move. Even if an A hits. If i river 2 pair and I bet and he raises Im like WTF. Or even say i check call turn and check river (blank) to him and he leads for 2/3rds pot. I'm stuck, and melting the nickels instead of shipping them.

Just another one of those posts where I feel shitty about my game, you know standard.

Oh btw, the only regular I thought was better than me at my 50nl short tables, I owned today. LOL he's not as good as I thought.

Totals since last post:

Hands:6819
Profit: 71.56 (below EV by alot again) meh fuck it.

Profit: -28.01

This needs to change...

SO this month has SUCKED for me poker wise. I'm kind of pissed (like erik) so bear with me. So far this month I'm down around 600$. I should be up around 200$ (which is consistent with my last months winnings). I'm running close to 800$ under Ev. This sucks. I feel like im making most of the right decesions and not spewing. I'm NOT falling back into my 'old routine' of getting tilted when I run bad. This consists of making horrible call downs "just because fuck it" and I'm NOT starting to 4b bluff someone who might be 3betting me alot but I don't have a solid read on them. I've just been playing my game, folding to 3bets from guys who 3bet a little to much and just waiting for like JJ+ and owning them when they level themselves by calling w 10 10 to my UTG 4b shove. I'm not cbetting boards I shouldn't be, unless I have some sort of timing tell (like a note that says snap check-will fold) on the guy. I AM double barreling and tripple barreling Nits who have to fold/have shown they will fold their MP/PP against my tripple barrel on like a K63210 board. I AM going for thin value against fishy players who ch/call the flop/ turn and Check the river even if a draw gets their/overcard hits, because I'm pretty sure they will call still with MP. However, my QQ/JJ keeps losing to AK, My AK is losing to 99-QQ, My KK is running into AA more than i have ever seen before, and my AA is getting cracked by under pairs constantly. Another example of how I am not winning is this:

I raise pf on the BU with a TPGK type hand, flop TPGK, against a fish. I bet dry flop for value, turn completes Gutshot, but puts a Flush draw out there and I value bet, river is a blank and villain checks. Say I check, Villain shows the made Gutshot that hit on the turn. Deciding whether to bet or not on the river is pretty tough some of the time for me, especially if I'm unsure villain will call with MP or if he will bluff raise with a missed fd/straight draw.

But anyways, The hand i described above is an example of what is happening time and time again. I'm running into strong parts of villains ranges, and my value bets are either getting raised or snapped off by better hands.

I'll pot my graph to show you what I mean. But near the end of the graph, you can see where my EV starts dipping down -that's from examples like the one above and of course some mistakes aswell.

Although through all of this downswing, My redline has stayed pretty much break even, where as last month it was pretty much straight down. I feel it is due to my willingness to attack small pots when I should, and being able to commit to my double barrel or tripple barrel when I feel it will show a profit.

Lastly, My all time EV graph is just about even with my winnings. This is due to my attempt at 100nl in the summer. I ran about 5 buyins above EV at 100nl (which was nice), but now I'm really paying for it at 50nl I feel. I just wish it would even out as I win instead of losing about 25% of my bankroll in under 10k hands.

So that's it. That's what I've been going through and how stressfull poker has become. With my car accident and me getting a new phone/my own plan, I feel like poker is starting to feel like how it was last semester. Meaning this: Last semester and even during the summer I had no extra cash available to pay my bills/afford a 'quality life' ( i guess you would call it). All of my poker winnings went to pretty much living costs/books for college. Had I not ben in the car accident I would feel much less stress and feel a sense of freedom with poker. Now it's like I'm stuck for about 800$ and need to make up for it ASAP. It's stressfull and is going to affect my volume since I don't feel like playing in this state of mind. On top of all of this, I'm pretty far behind in school because of being sick/missing some classes. I got to get through this 'life' downswing and move on. How I'm going to do so is the hard part to figure out =/

Gettin the tables on

Ive been playing more consistently since this weekend. I've also been able to play 10-11 tables and been able to profit at that (and not mislick. I feel really comfortable playing 8 tables right now, and its kind of my median, when im feeling good i add another and another as i can. It feels great to grind for an hour and be able to but in 1k hands just like that. It's much better because it's like my true winrate is exposed over more hands..so like more hands I play the more often my EV runs out even. I hope that makes sense lol. If i make a mistake it still costs me, but I'm finding it less stressfull the more tables i play. Like if i was 4-6 tabling 1 little/big mistake would ruin the entire session. That still is true when playing more tables, but the more hands I play the more $ I'm winning. -This may sound like a level but I'm just trying to get at my point of my sessions are coming in more consistently than before. I hate thinking I'm ranting so if this doesnt make sense comment like a boss!

Totals since last post:

Hands played: 7852
Total profit: -125.39
Fpp's: 21k

Im running 250$ under EV which kind of sucks but I really do not care AT ALL about it lol. All I know is my Broll is more than sufficient for what I play at and I barely look at my cashier while I'm playing. I'm finding looking at my FPP balance is what's tilting me now ...haha

I played a 280fpp sat hyper turbo one to the 55k gaurantee, didn't realize it put me instantly into the tournament lol and i busted out for -11$. But it's w.e

I ventured about 50 hands into 100nl this week, and it was fun. It was like the same ole stuff, just a little harder to find some good tables, (ran -17$ but 17$+ ev wise =(

That gets me to my next point: tables selection.

I understand the only things we can control in cash games is table selection, how long you play, and when you play. Optimally you should be playing when your playing your best, playing however long you can play your best, and table selecting the very best tables. However, I'm not only trying to move up to 100nl, but I'm trying to beat the regs aswell. This coincides with multitabling. It's harder to find 11 good tables than it is 6 tables (even though you can still find 11 good tables.) But, the more I think about it, and the more i watch the regs play...the less concerned I am about playing at a table with an extra reg or 2. I've found that the half decent regs that I consistently play with don't bother playing back at me. (I've found this as I have around 500-1k hands on a lot of regs and nothing interesting really I've seen them play back at me). Now with this, I can see how getting better at playing against them and playing un exploited against them is insanely profitable. But i don't know where to start since i don't have CR... So if you have any suggestions on exploited regs let me know.

That's it, I'm coming home this weekend and will be hitting up everyone home, Steve you better coach me when I'm down haha

Back to blogging like a bo$$

So heres my results since last post, which will be followed by a long post of how I'm feeling poker wise and what my thoughts are. -I think it will be a good read.

Cash hands played: 18567
Profit: 406.55$

Bonuses: 100$ reload bonus+50 stellar reward

FPP's: I'm at 18k fpp's right now, which is about a 3rd of the way to my goal of 65k for the 1k gift card, (something like .016 per fpp at that rate 18k fpps is worth about 280$)

VIP bonus: I'm about to hit platinum star, i have around 1800vpps to go in 2 full days left to go, not sure how its going to work but I'm going to go for it

EURO: I bought in Euro's at 1.28 per1$ and sold them at 1.307 per 1$ so i know i profited off of it, but I earned more $ at the euros than i bought in for, so not exactly sure how much profit i made from this.

Total profit: 556.55$

So it's been a wild ride at 50nl so far, I've increased the number of tables substantially and have been putting in around 1k hands a day pretty much since school started. I find myself very comfortable 8 tabling, and semi-comfortable playing 9 tables. I tend to lower the tables down to 7 when i start not feeling good about how I'm playing which i got to work on.

I've been playing mostly the short stack tables and grinding the deep stack tables when i feel up for it. There is ALOT of money up for grabs at these deep stacked tables and I feel people tend to bluff huge amounts of bb's in 3b pots. It's kind of hard for me at these tables, unless there is 2 huge whales (i have been seeing the same fish coming to play everyday consistently blowing stacks, some of its to me :) But, I feel like i cannot win at those tables unless there is a huge fish or I am running good. I just keep losing non showdown pots left and right. I'm still up a ton at those tables but it's really frustrating. People are not folding to 3bets/4bets ever. They just call call call thinking they can stack me when i have an overpair vs. set or what not 250 deep. it's kind of hard to just sit there and wait for big hands when stacks are going in every hand, and even when you get KK/AA/QQ im getting alot of action on low dry flops and things like that..If anyone can offer there 2cents on these tables id appreciate it.

Other than at the tables, I'm feeling really confindent at 50nl, i feel like im progressing as a player and constantly have an edge at a table. I feel like i know what to do in certain spots vs. regs, and can exploit them or atleast play breakeven against them. Lately I have been thinking about certain tough spots and certain lines i can take in those spots which is either neutral EV or +ev.

Also, I've been striving to improve my play in the BB/SB because its my biggest losing positions. I had been losing at a huge bb/hand in the bb and sb. I think it was because i was trying to hard to outplay people/ bluff them. I think some of the regs adapted to how I play and know i tend to bluff more. So, instead of fighting for really marginal spots and trying to push people off hands where i have no clue what i am doing I have been fighting for smaller pots against fishy players who are likely to fold, and fighting for those spots against nits whos hand range is well defined based on how they play/what line they took.

Other than that I have been religiously looking at my holdem manager and identifying certain hands which are not showing a profit. IE: stealing j9o on the cut-off and those types of hands which really i can only play profitably with nits on the button and like 1 fish in the bb/sb and another nit in the bb/sb. In these spots im more likely to steal with hands like q7-q9s, j8-j10o/s, and k8-10o (on the cut off). I think in the short tables you can really make some small mistakes raising these hands preflop which destroy your bottom line. I've started analyzing more fully whether or not its okay to isolate or steal based on the players to my left, (not to worried about the player to my right if he open limps.) For instance, say it folds to a fishy, guy who wont fold a pair and he open limps on the CO and im on the button with a hand like j8o or q9o or even like k6o. I'm only going to isolate if I know for a fact that the blinds will fold a ton, or they are like nitty shortstackers who have a defined shove range and will fold a ton. Based off that I'm more likely to add hands like j7,q7,k6+, k5s+ and like 78o/89o to my isolating range.

Now with players who like to abuse the fact that i steal/isolate wide, I've found that the only way to adjust is to just not raise those type of hands above, and just play tighter. Those types of players i feel will still continue to 3b me as much even though I'm raising a tighter range and will be in a tough spot when i have the AA/KK/AK and flat and they cbet any high card board board with like TP dec kicker and i ship it or call/call shove. (K high board when i have AK). And to the times when they cbet out of position on a like dry board like 362 or 552 or something like that and i shove over their cbet with over cards, They are forced to fold pretty much everything except pair/overpair type hands. Since overcards make up a bigger portion of their range which would 3bet (i think), hands like KQ, KJ, AQ, QJs and some suited connectors, will have a hard time when i shove over their cbet (With AK/AQ/KK/AA). I'm not to sure on this, though. Specifically say I have AK/AQ on the button. I isolate a fish oopen limp (it folds to him) and a regular who can 3b KQ/QJ/AQ/AJ/KJ/ suited connector type hands+ their premiums (about a 10% 3b %). Can it be more profitable to flat with AQ/AK here at the 50bb tables? If he's capable of cbet bluffing oop at 50bb's deep, is it profitble to shove over most dry flops (when you dont hit) like 362/445 (you get the idea)? I think it will be a good idea to call pre, w AK-AQs/o since I'm sure he's folding all of that range -premiums. Even if the fish comes along to the 3b, the fish has so much shit in that range which we don't want to fold to a 4bet+ it makes our range look alot weaker when we don't 4bet. for instance, the reg might think we have PP's and some sutied connectors that decided to call thinking we had the "odds." He'd be more inclined to cbet any K high/ A high board assuming our range was like only 22-JJ, + like 89s/109s. When we do hit, with our AK/AQ were going to stack his kj/kq/aq/aj, and if he actually decides to cbet a low uncoordinated board, I'm sure we can shove over profitably with our overcards (unless he is unlikely to cbet a low uncoordinated board with air since the fish is in the hand.

So this is how my mind has been ranting on these past few weeks, I've been really interested in these type of situations, and really been trying to figure it out. Add that to the fact that I'm trying to move up to 100nl soon, (just need to get the broll up) and I'm pretty ultra motivated to play poker. The only set backs is class. I have a "scheduled" life now, which is frustrating when I'm in the mood to study poker/play and have to go to class or finish a project. Like right now, I decided to not go to class and just right this blog/ do some other HW for the class. I am sick so I can right off class easily, but I'm sure I'll have some work to make up after today.

So that's my extremely long rant for today, expect more blogs like this (probably not daily). I feel like writing these types of situations out really really help me improve and get on my best thought process that I have for poker. I really want to be able to grind poker for a living/part-time living someday (outside of college) so I'm putting in the effort now while i still have time to. That gets me to my goals; I intend to make it to 100nl withing a month or two, and learn how to 10+ table and grind it out like I have been at 50nl. As of today I have around 32k hands at 50nl and a 1.75-2BB winrate. I hope it stays true over my next 30k hands of 50nl so I can move up quickly.

With all this my bankroll online overall is now 1850 or something like that, (I never deposited the rest of my bankroll from the casino since i needed it for books.) I think keep adding the tables and keep playing how i've been playing+improving will get me to 100nl over the next month or so. And that's that, sorry for the rant but I think it will be a good read. Please comment on any of the situations above and help me out if you can. thanks.

2 nights of being up all nght :(

Ended up staying up all last night and the night before. Also still feeling sick from the turning stone trip, I might post some interesting hands from the trip or i might not. But heres the totals:

Cash hands played: 3213
Profit: +201.64

Total profit from last post: +201.64$

It's been a swingy couple of days. I was breakeven over about 2k hands and wondering why?! Then I was at a table with the WORST fish I've ever played with and made about 150 off of him alone which gave me a nice session, then I was down about 100$ the next day because of spewing/ nothing working, and Now I'm back up after a really nice session.

However, lately my redline is just going down the tubes (well its been slightly negative over the last 3k hands but overall at 50nl its negative). I've been put in a TON of situations where every flop hits villain's range and my cbets just wont work.

On top of that, i need to table select more when theres like 3-4 regs at a table and only 1-2 fish. I think at 50nl short stack tables and 100bb tables theres fish absolutely everywhere. I've been starting up my sessions by going on waiting lists and just waiting for 6 juicy tables.

Thats another thing, I feel alot more comfortable playing 6 tables at 50nl than i did 3 days ago. The only time I will lower the tables is if I have an absolutely huge fish donating and just want to focus alot more, or if I'm tired and winding down a session.

But anyways, overall at 50nl, I've played just under 15k hands. Right now my bb/100 is 5.5bb/100 which is really cool to think about. before the end of august, I'm pretty sure I was a losing/break even player at 25nl. But within just over a month (and a small sample size) I'm beating 50nl to my knowledge.

But, even though I think my game has gotten better/less tiltier, I still fucking suck at cash games. LOL What I mean is, I still see my self spewing every once in a while, and still see myself making stupid decesions/ making a decesion with bad logic or no logic at all. Hopefully when i go back to college I'll be able to study/work on my game more because of the environment I'll be in.

Lastly I'm leaving for umass sunday and it will be the end of the challenge. I will still post blogs probably once a week or whenever i play poker. I think I'm up around 3500$ for the summer which doesnt win the challenge. I'll post an official update tomorow before i go back. P.S. I'm thinkgin about playing 5$ rebuys all day tomorow to try and hit the 5k but who knows I might get lazy again ;)

steve brags about his coaching $ per hour!!

Haha Just kidding steve. Steve coached me for a little bit at 100nl yesterday which was sickk. I finally now what it feels like <3. haha anyways didnt play that much the past 5 days, been going on various dates+beach days but I still grinded for atleast an hour each day. Also, realized i suck at playing 8-10 tables...I'm gunna add 1 table each week like steve suggests. I'll start off at 6 tabling and play whatever limit for a week then add on I do.

Thunderjakes ftw

It was lightening out like crazy 10 min ago +a ton of rain. I hadda go out and get the grocieries in it...sucked.

Poker wise I'm running above EV lately which is pretty nice but makes it not feel as worthy tbh. Today I haven't made any tilty/big mistakes, but I know i must have made some small errors which cost me. I found out I'm being a little too aggressive/loose when I first load up a table. This is normally what I do in the 100bb+ tables in order to get a loose/maniac image when I first start out and then play solid for the rest of the session. However, I absolutely can not be doing this at the 50bb tables with so many fish everywhere. I swear there's a ridiculous amount of drooling fish at 100nl waiting to ship there nickels to me. I keep getting 3b shoved on by the annoying short stackers though which is frustrating. I feel like being a short stacker in the short tables is much more +EV than in a typical 100bb table w more full stacked regs. If some one has any good advice/vids for calling ranges against shorties that'd be great btw. I've played around 4k hands of 50nl so far. Had I not tilted the other day I'd be up about 2 more buyins. If you - the HU attempt i made about a month ago 50nl is going good for me so far. Winning at about 4-5 BB/100. I plan on putting in about 5-10k hands of 50nl more in the next week+ atleast 4k hands at 100nl. Hopefully i run goooood.

Realized that a 27inch monitor on the pokerstars store is going for about $.0145 per fpp which is a decent deal. I've found that my equity worth in the 210fpps is around $.017+ per fpp if i can win at least 1 out of 3. Also if i can win about 50% of the 280fpps hyper turbos, its around $.019. I kind of fucked around with the numbers and came out with this so correct me if im wrong.

Rough add up of summer totals: +3132$

I should be, for pace, at : +3480$

Goldstar "brag" (or so they call it) + recap

Hit goldstar today, with a full day of rest. Pretty satisfied. Played 25nl deep+50nl deep+ 100nl euro tables drunk today... went pretty well IMO up around in the 100's. I'm pretty satisfied with this month overall. -It being the first month to actually hit goldstar, my biggest winning month, me being able to move up to 50nl+100nl, PLUS I'm right around pace for the summer. Pretty happy about all of it. Not so happy with my play however. I played enough to storm through this Heater, yet I still feel like I've made way too many mistakes. Still need to watch more videos/grind more for next month. And surprisingly I am running within 1 buyin of EV this month. (+1 that is)
Also I'm winning at 50nl, and at 100nl, I'm up about 2 buy ins at 50nl and about 20bb's (LOL) at 100 nl OBV only under a small sample (like 300 hands) but I feel its important to note.

Played a couple 11$'s

Started my venture into the 11's, only played 2 of them, but I was playing mostly 5's and just wanted to mix some in and focus on each decision better. I ended up placing 1st in one 11$ which was really great, I really felt I played close to perfect in that one at least. However I lost every other sng i played ;( I mostly played cash games today because I'm really trying to get goldstar and still have 650 vpps to go in 4 days. I ran 2 buyins under expectation yet won a 200bb+ pot with set over set to end the session. I'm really running well over the past 6k hands (while still at EV) and am hoping it keeps up.

HOLY #%$@ I HIT 69!!!!!

Sharkscope ability results: 69. Taste it monty i got there before you.

Just won a 4$ 180 man for the second time this month...I'm fucking ecstatic lol. I dont care if it's a brag but today was my most winningest day throughout history lol...sadly its only +278.69 (peep the cents). I'm just gunna post the totals since my last session

Totals:

Sngs played:21
Profit:+278.69$

I loaded up 2 4$ 180 man sngs along with my other 5$ sngs, at one point i was at the final tables in both the 180 mans with 20+ bb's and running really hot in the 5's as well.

Tryin to hit goldstar

I've been learning alot on these sng's lately, I watched a series on the maths by VitalMyth. He has a really good series that went pretty deep into the math behind set mining+ suited connector play. I've also as of yesterday figured out one big leak in my game. I had been trying to "survive" in the sngs when I had 5bbs or under, (I have to try harder to not get into these situations as my edge severely decreases when i have no fold equity.)

Other than that I still havent put in enough volume. I need about 1500 more vpps for goldstar, with 14 days left i need to put in just over 100 vpps a day...This should definitely be attainable, but I'd like to maybe take some action for a 1 day volume challenge to get me motivated. Preferably at the cash games if possible. (25nl only please :).

I had only been 6 tabling the 5's at a time to really find some spots to improve on. Plus I had played some rush poker on Fulltilt to get a little bonus money..

Think I'm catching the hang of 25nl 6max..

So, I'm actually starting to profit at the 5's. I've been taking alot of notes lately and have about 4 pages or so of them...I realized i have ALOT of questions about the sngs and even the cash games.

I have been playing a little bit of cash while winding starting/down my sngs sessions. My redline is positive over those hands, so its usually a sign of me playing well (or running hot). Either way I'm satisfied. I would've earned around 100$ at the cash games but i just lost a 30$ pot against a fish who limp over called with aces, I got it in on a 824 6 board with QQ. pretty standard but fuck that guy. Anyways, I think the biggest reason why my redline is positive is because of my overall aggression. Also, I've been increasing my bet sizing against the right opponents when needed to bluff/ get value, add this to the aggression and I think I'd be a winning player.

Back to sng's, I've been kind of stuck with some questions and some spots where i dont know if I should have shoved or not. My overall calling of shoves in the push fold mode has been pretty good though.

-Still need to put in a bigger grind effort at the sngs
-Still need to watch some more card runners vids.

I still have 666.12 Fpps sitting in my account, I think I'm going to save up/use them to try and make it into the turning stone tournament that Steve told me about.

Heres my cash games rant: As far as cash games are concerned, i had played like 1200 hands of 2nl when i was bored 30 tabling (still profited! -brag). But still, to be down over 100$ in 3k hands just blows. I don't know if it was me being spewy or what. I am running about 2.5 buyins under EV over this downswing though. I'm not sure if I'm a winning player at 25nl yet, the 50bbs tables seem SO soft, yet I'm just not winning at them... There are probably massive leaks some where in my game, I just don't know how to find them. Any suggestions?? (especially for CR videos)

Heres my Sngs rant: I haven't put in a good enough tournaments/day this past week, I'm planning on playing at least 40+ a day when I do play. Besides that, I'm almost absolutely break even at the 5$ Sngs which is ridiculous... Yes I'm probably running really bad, but at the same time I need to do some sort of leak finder/take more notes. Its weird that im breakeven at the 5's and winning at the 3's (20% roi), but I'll figure it out. I won my first 4$ 180 man today! They're so fucking soft its amazing. So far i think I'm up close to 400$ since the start...thats almost half of my profit from this challenge lol. In a couple hours or so, Steve agreed to sweat me while I play the sngs so hopefully my thought process will expand on the game.

Brag of the day: Not only did I get my first win at the 180's, Steve; my hero, was able to watch me take it down.

Beat of the day: I realized how much I suck at cash games today :(

Since last post totals:+123.87$

tourneys played:189
Profit: +159.85$

Cash hands played:2395
Profit: -35.98

Cash results suck hardcore there due to an attempt at 50nl HU. Damn fishes kept catching big hands. before my attempt at HU i had been some where around +50-60$ from 10nl and 25nl.

I've been thinking a lot lately about my stakes and such, i feel like shit that i'm sitting around at 25nl/10nl as far as cash games. I want to crush the stakes and I want to make more money. I'm going to build my roll up to around 2k hopefully and start playing cash more and more. With a 2k Broll ill be able to deal with the swings and not worry about it at 25nl aswell as take well planned shots at 50nl HU/6max. Any advice please comment :)

Beat of the day: My bank fucked me over out of 145$ worth in overdraft fees and I had to cash out again bringin my Broll below 1k.

Brag of the day: I went in to the sovereign branch and told them how fucked up things are and threatened to go to a small claims trial and they redeemed every fee except 35$ worth. Lost the battle but won the war.

I need to get moving on my bankroll and get it super deep in order to feel comfortable at the stakes I want to play. It may take another month and a half to get it to 2k maybe longer if i keep cashing out.

Still pretty happy w my play since the 16th ran a little shitty in some tourneys but cashed big in a 180.

Taste it jake.

Decided to take a break on the day as far as the challenge goes. I couldn't sleep much last night for no reason, and had to get up at 9am for an interview at target. Instead of grinding like 14 tables at a time, I played 4-5 5$ 18/27 mans and a 4.40 180 man. At the same time i was playing like 10 25c 45 mans (no rake) and stacked them. It was a lot of fun doing this haha and I made some really solid decesions at the 5s which gave me a nice ROI on the day. Then played some cash hands at 10nl and it was so soft the fish were just sending the nickels my way.

Totals:

Sngs played: 16
Profit: +59.95$

Cash hands played:276
Profit: +26.40

-10 for steve prop bet
-3 to monty prop bet

Total Profit: +73.35$

According to all my posts so far I am +481.56 on the challenge. My hold'em manager insists that I'm up 487.09 and thats missing about 2 won sats for 10.67 each. I'm probably around the 500$ which is fine.

I'm 4518.44 away from making the challenge.
I should be at 1350$ to be on pace. I really need to get back on track. I'm expecting that my profits will jump off later on in the summer -once i hit the 10$ sngs.

Taste it monty+steve

Today played over 100 games so thats 10$ more from steve + 3 more from monty.

Today wen pretty shitty. Ran like absolute shit and was down almost 35 buy ins at the 3's after a while. However I ended up not that bad because of the Fpp satellites and stellar rewards. I felt over whelmed playing today. I only could sleep for around 5 hours before I started my grind at midnight. I could only stand playing for 6 hours and stopped. I was playing extremely mindless and could not focus for shit. Through today though, I can really see where my edge is in the game. I think i can make more $ per hour through 6-10 tabling. Of course I'll probably be doing this once the challenge is over. I'll make my start at the 5's and look to move up to the 10's asap.

So here's the totals:

100 sngs played:
Profit: -64.15$

2 210 Fpp SATS: +21.34

Steve prob bet: +10
Monty prop bet: +3

Total for the day: -29.81$

Brag of the day: Lost another one of my baby teeth today!
Beat of the day: I'm 19 and still have baby teeth...

Taste it Steve. +monty

Day 1 of the 100 games a day challenge:

Sngs played: 102
Profit: +145.70$

210 FPP sng: +10.67$

Steve owes me 10$ for todays 100games
Monty owes me 3$

Total profits: +169.37$

Today went really well. I played for 11 hours straight, not one break. I figured that the only way I can actually do this challenge is if I play in long drawn out sessions. Sounds horrible but I know I can do it.

It was hectic at times, at one point I had about 16 tables going while HU on 2 tables, VERY tough to focus. I think I'm catching the hang of it though, towards the end of the session, say the last 20+ games or so, I was able to really focus and push myself, especially when HU. I know I ran extremely well today, but I'll take it.

Brag of the day: Steve and monty fucking owe me money, its awsome.
2nd brag of the day: I'm up 169$ today.

Made a withdrawal of 150$ from pstars. Beat: It'll take atleast 2-3 weeks to get it by paper check.

Feel pretty good about how I played at the cash games, I really have been noticing were I have been leaking $$$. I really tightened up. Some of the best advice from verneer: "Find out who's giving you the money the fastest and number them. Leave the table when you think your edge is gone." Just makes me think about how much of, in the words of my hero, "a hustle," the cash games really are. Like you're only sitting down at a table when you have a significant edge over the players.. it almost seems unfair.

I'm Pretty far behind for the 5k challenge, however im doing a challenge with steve. I have to play 100 games a day for 7 days straight. If I don't blog about it it's because im grinding or sleeping. Please don't try to contact me after this sunday till next sunday.

I'll post how far behind I am on the challenge next time.

Felicia seduces jacob into using his phone...

So heres the deal, I'm out of internet until the 8th so my only options for playing are: steves house, toms house, my sisters house and local cofee shops on my netbook =/. steves away till the weekend and tom has school during the days, so I've been playing at my sisters today. I wont be updating the blog that much until i get my internet back because ill be constantly going from netbook to desktop and its hard to import the tournament info that way. For instance today i cannot give exact amounts of how i did for the past few days.

Brag of the week: I couldnt drive to steves so I had to walk, while walking some random girl came up to me. She wanted to use my phone beacuse her douchebag BF ditched her in the middle of lynn. LOL

Brag of the other night: I knocked out steve in his own home-tournament =D
Not so-much of a brag of the other night: I almost knocked out Monty in his brothers own-home tournament =D ( i left him pretty much chipless) Taste it.

Estimated totals: +98.69$

(no way of telling until i combine all of my data with my desktop.)

Beach beach Beach!!

So heres the deal, went to the beach for the past 2 days and focused on my "social life" (psh). I didnt get to play that much at all. I needed to take away some more time after the other day of just pure downswing.

but:
Brag of the day: I hung out with Lauren Marnik* at Tori's fire and we talked about steve!!

Totals:-36 82

Sngs: 10

Here it is:

Last night was by far my worst day out of the challenge so far. I'll describe what went down, then just post the total for the day because I need to get back to the grind.

So here's what happened I started grinding out some $5's and some of the 4.40 180 man's. I think I had way too many tables going at once, because my reasoning was very flawed in some of the hands. Also, litterally hand after hand i had lost 5 big pots without showdown. I thought each C-bet would be appropriate given the situation (HU) however I just didnt get a fold. I typically dont worry about losing some pots where I c-bet, to anyone. I guess it was just the fact that it all happened consecutively which tilted me. Oh yes, I became on super tilt BTW. I just started losing, and it spiraled into more losing. I gotta work on my tilt its costing me BIG this time.

Totals for the day: -78.02

Sngs played: 24
Profit: -73 50$

Cash hands played: 817
Profit: -4.52$

Berenziah Traps Anne Coltar's jacove

Totals for the day: +103.50$

Today went well in the begginning, played earlier than usual -around 3 O'clock. Then played at steves house with Monty. At steve's house i couldnt focus that well and made some mistakes which seemed reasonable at first, yet second look I realized the mistake. Some of the mistakes involved open shoving when I was too deep, or taking high variance spots (like Flips) when my edge would be greater overall if i had not taken that flip.

But overall great day to get me back around pace.

Brag of the day:
Flopped Straight flush HU in a limped Pot w/ villain having around 12ish bb's. He shoved.

Profit's since may 21's: +385.71
After 11 days, at 45$ a day I should be at +495.
Very optimistic on the challenge though, still have 4614.29$ to go.

Short Day

Okay, so I've been playing these SNG's all wrong apparently. Instead of constantly having around 8-12 tables up, I have been pulling up 12 tables, letting them finish, then restarting. This is NOT the way I should be grinding these so I'm changing it around.

Totals For the day: 24.32$
Total sngs: 24
Total profit: +13.65$

FPP satellite won -profit: +10.67$

Total profit since May 17th: +282.21$

At 45$ a day I should be at: 450$+

So I'm a little behind, but that's okay. This is mostly due to me taking the weekend off to go to my cousins' house, I need to get the grind back.

Swingy ladder to the sun.

Totals for the Day: 21.25$
3's sngs: 5
Profit: 10$

5's sngs: 32
Profit: 11.25$

Today went really swingy. At one point i was busting out of 3/5 bubbles and losing in every HU match...while playing my best. Then when i was playing not optimally I came in 1'st or 2nd in about 4/12... man variance kills me sometimes.

Alright so, overall since May 17th my profits are: +257.89

Break even for a Break.

So after my last post, (being breakeven for the day), I went up to my cousins house to hang out with my cousins and focus on non poker stuff i.e music, friends, etc. I played some cash games on my Toshiba Netbook which did not go so well. I played the short stack tables on stars, I F***ing hate those tables. They're so crazy, people getting it in left in right. This sounds like pretty good tables typically, but I'm having a hard time putting ranges on them, and end up making a not-so good decesion in a 50bb pot. I also tend to be weak tight post flop at these tables, I just feel like my C-bets are getting shoved on constantly by all of the 20-40 bb stacks and it sucks. I just have to think value value value next time.

Anyways the sngs went pretty well. I started off bad, getting sick beats at the 5's busted out like 4 bubbles in one little session. Pretty brutal. But my second session I played early this morning went incredibly well and brought my graph to a new time high.

Totals since may 21st: +40.20
5$ sngs played: 19
Profit: 89$
3$ sngs played: 6
Profit:1.20$

Cash hands:
Around 300 (dont have HH on my Netbook)
total profit:-50$

5$ SNGS

Late in the day yesterday, I started playing a mix of 3$ sngs and 5$ sngs. This did not go over well. Overall I'm in a 20BI downswing at the 5$'s. I dont like playing the 3$ and the 5$ together because they do play differently, so today I'm going to play the 5$ solely and come out of this niche.
I also played some 2$/5$ sngs on fulltilt just to try them out. They went well, the structure is completely different than pokerstars. I dont know if i like them yet.

Made my first cash out today, 150$ I plan on using this for some spending money, aswell as my gym membership for the summer.

Totals for late yesterday: -2.52$

5$ sngs: 21
Profits: -25.5$

3$ sngs: 6
Profits: 9.49$

Fulltilt sngs: 6
Profits: +13.49

Cash and sngs mixed

Today I mixed in some Cash games at the end of the day. The overall day went really well, however during the sng's i felt i was again making too many simple mistakes, and that my winnings felt like this: "oh its just variance." So tonight I'm going to watch another one of Jackal's vids in the series 18-180. After I'll grind about 10-15 more 18/27 mans.

Heres the day's totals:

Total sngs played: 14
Profit from sngs: $53.30

Cash hands at 10nl:245 hands
Cash hands at 25n: 464 hands

Total profit from 25nl: 81.68
total profit from 10nl: -27.02

Total profit from cash: 54.66

Overall day's profits: 107.96$

The day went really well monetarily wise. But again, I keep making mindless mistakes. These mistakes involve either i wasn't focused on the table and was just "pressing buttons" when I was doing things, or i was making plays that had no warrant to do so. Also, i feel that when i jump into playing, the beginning of my session goes downhill (probably from lack of focus/adjusting). So the next time I play my objective is to be thinking my best and not making mindless plays for each and every hand.

Day 1

Today started off really well, hit a really decent patch of variance and killed it. However as the day turned out I started making really simple mistakes. I'm going to try and learn from them and keep watching Card runners vids until they go away. I finished my last session in a 10 buy in downswing, however was still up about 40 on the day. Through winning a 27man for 10 buyins just about, my downswing was deleted. :)

Totals for the day:+81$
8 hours of grind:
48 Sngs +82
133 hands of cash for -1.33
Spent 280 fpps on a SAT -280 Fpps.

Finally have silverstar, so I can really start to rack in those fpp's and get a decent rakeback going with the SAT's

Pretty satisfied on the day, going to head to bed and get ready for the next grind.

Intro Yo

So I'm making this blog as a Goal setter/accountability thing. My main goal for this summer is to make at least 5k by the next school semester. The next semester starts around September 6th, and today is the 17th so that leaves me 112 days left.

So goals:

5k by next semester.
Post on this Blog about my daily progress.
Make much progression in my guitar/music skills.

112 days is 45$ a day.

This definitely seems do-able, and if i hit the goal early, then I'll re-write my goals. I should be able to make this with about 40 hours of playing a week. However i plan on pushing my limits and going for 70-90 hours a week. This will allow myself to take"vacation days" to focus on my social life/beach days.

I will be playing mostly micro/low stake sngs, some micro tournaments, and playing micro stakes cash games.

In addition to my playing time, the rake back/bonuses will count towards my goal.
